Why am I still surprised when Google shows up with another inventive product or incredible improvement to an existing one? You'd think I would have learned that everything they do is unbelievable...
Over a year ago, I had the fortune of being introduced to Google Earth, and to the dismay of my wife, I've been obsessed ever since.
Well, after my discovery last night, I'm fairly certain I may become the next addict in need of rehab. Somehow, they have layered 3-D renderings of buildings over their old 3-D white boxes. "What does this mean?" you may ask. As the picture below shows, you can fly through a 3-D city and view from any angle what you may actually see if you were physically there. So, now it's possible to move in front of our apartment building in Seattle and see a digital image of our view of the Space Needle!
Either this is truly cool stuff, or I really am a closet geek (please keep your opinions to yourself).
Anyway, I had fun measuring the distance between our apartment and some prominent Seattle locations:
- Space Needle (.37 miles)
- Mars Hill Graduate School (.18 mi.)
- Puget Sound (.24 mi.)
- The Original Starbucks/Pike Place Market (.42 mi.)
- Supersonics' Key Arena (.54 mi.)
- Seahawks Football Stadium (1.5 mi.)

Glad you're blogging again-- you bring a smile to my face everytime!
By the way, Jonah is really into Google Earth right now. The best part is listening to him saying "Google Earth."
Troy,
Are you going to be a new student at MHGS or have you already been attending?
I started a blogroll of people who will be new students in the fall, would you like me to add you?
Jennifer
